Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival

Gorgeous yarn colors at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival

Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival was a super fun time! Held at the Howard County Fairgrounds, near Frederick, Maryland, it's a huge, free, annual festival put on by the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association. It's like a big county fair crossed with a huge yarn market crossed with a showcase of hundreds of sheep breeds. The sheepdog trials were one of my favorite things I saw all weekend. It was so fascinating to watch these dogs work, only going on hand signals or whistles from their Continue Reading

Death Valley & Red Rock Canyon

Jimmy and I had a wonderful vacation a few weeks ago. We went to southern California, Disneyland, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon. It was a total blast! The desert is gorgeous, but I definitely learned that I'm a girl who has to have trees around to feel at home! Check out all our pictures from the trip! Death Valley highlights Dante's View: 7,000 feet up, get a super panoramic of the Badwater Basin (lowest point in the Western hemisphere) Zabriskie Point: We watched the sunrise Continue Reading

Las Vegas recap

Las Vegas was pretty sweet! Not only did I have an amazing time at Blog World Expo (wow, I learned lots) but I had fun seeing the sights in the few minutes of free time I had each day! I did enjoy the food (our meal at Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant was off the chain), the scale of things (HUGE) and the always over the top Continue Reading

Belize Day Six – Aw man it’s over already?!

Our last day in Belize was spent much like the day before. Spent the morning relaxing, eating, reading, swimming, enjoying the beach. I miss the color already. Virginia (and North Carolina) has been covered in a haze of smoke for weeks now and sometimes I almost forget these colors exist. Everything is gray here! We went on another snorkeling trip in the afternoon. Alfonse was sick so he couldn't take us, we ended up going with another tour group. NOT WORTH IT! Seriously if you go to Continue Reading

Belize Day Five – Chillin’

Our first day with no plans. Ahhhh. We woke up and headed out to the courtyard for breakfast. Renita served us freshly squeezed juice, local tea, and two plates of fresh pineapple, papaya, grapes and melon. Next came the garnachas, a local breakfast favorite, fried corn tortillas topped with beans, shredded cabbage, salsa and cheese. She also had fried cinnamon triangle things with brown sugar and granola which were completely delicious. We ate til we were stuffed then grabbed two bikes and Continue Reading
