Shamrock 8k & Marathon

Well, I did it! Finished the Shamrock 8k run on Saturday. I am pleased as punch with myself. I ran the whole thing, and I did it in 1:09:07. Not fast like lightning, but pretty darn stoked since I did literally zero training for this run (5 miles). I think that is one heck of a testament to Crossfit, because that is literally the only training at all I've been doing. I trained like a mofo (running a LOT) every other time I've done a 5k and still felt like I was struggling to finish. This was an Continue Reading

Race for the Cure 5K

I have already sent out emails to those who donated on my behalf for the race, but I wanted to thank you guys for your support in the race on Saturday! The weather was pretty awful but there was a great turnout and we had fun anyway! Our team raised $4091.00, which put us in fourth place for corporate teams and number 10 overall. So awesome! You can check out more pictures here. Thank you so much for supporting me and helping to kick cancerโ€™s butt. You are awesome. Continue Reading

Race Day Tomorrow!

So tomorrow I'll be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K down at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Weather is looking good: 56 degrees, rain and 30 mph winds! Also we'll be right on the beach so that should be really fun! Hey, at least it's for a good cause, and since our team shirts are white, we can get a little wet t-shirt action going on. Bonus for spectators! You guys were amazing in helping me raise over $600 to fund breast cancer research and help save womens lives. I am Continue Reading

Help save the boobies!

I think we all can agree that breast cancer sucks. One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime. I do not like this statistic. On October 18, 2008, I will be running a 5K race at the Virginia Beach oceanfront with some of my coworkers with the hopes of raising as much money as possible to help Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tidewater end breast cancer forever. The Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs for these Continue Reading

Rock n Roll Half Marathon 2007

I was just a teensy bit tired after only two hours sleep, but I got up this morning and headed down to the oceanfront to volunteer at the 7th annual Virginia Beach Rock n Roll Half Marathon. We had to report to the start line at 4 am. I got there right on time and we stood around for a while waiting for our assignments. I was assigned to the starting corrals, and volunteered to be a captain! It sounded very important but totally wasn't. There were over 20,000 people running the half Continue Reading
