Big Schloss Hike – Virginia

Big Schloss is a gem of a hike in the George Washington National Forest. It's a moderately difficult hike at 4.4 miles and 1,000 feet of elevation gain. We did this hike on April 24th. I woke up super early and on a whim, started poking around Google maps to check out the peaks near us. The name caught my eye and I started looking it up on some of the trail review sites. Bears Den Hike on the Appalachian Trail

I turned 30 last week, and to celebrate, Jimmy and I went on our first hike since we've moved up to the farm. My friend Genevieve's fiancee Sean is a local dude, and he told us about a hike called Bears Den which is about 20 miles outside Winchester down Rt 7. There goes Jimmy, heading down the beach at the isolated False Cape State Park, which in fact, is the least visited park in the state. False Cape is a mile-wide barrier spit in Virginia Beach sandwiched between Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. There's a reason False Cape isn't the most popular park around. It's isolated.
