‘Tis the season

credenza with holiday decor

I have gotten so excited about Christmas decorations this year! I was really inspired by living up here near the mountains, seeing all the beautiful trees this fall, and just observing all the new nature around me. My parents came to visit for my mom's birthday, and I wanted everything to be really festive and magical for them, so I got busy and pulled the house together early this year. I made several fresh wreaths, swags, and such. I spraypainted branches with silver metallic paint for the Continue Reading

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday! I sure did. Lots of time with family! Christmas Eve we hung out, opened a few gifts, read the Christmas story and played Wii. Christmas morning I got spoiled all to heck! My mom got me a Canon Digital Rebel XSi and a dressform! She bought my brother the same camera so we could share lenses and he's already got a zoom lens! Merry Christmas!

This post is way overdue but after all the insanity and rushrushrush of the holidays, I needed a few days of doing absolutely nothing. This gorgeous little house was all ours for a few days we spent together as a family up in Hot Springs, Virginia. It's called the Boxwood cottage and it's one of the properties you can rent at the King's Victorian Inn. I highly recommend staying there if you ever want a mountain getaway. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially if you have a large group Continue Reading

Garden of lights

Ricky [the deer] says that Christmas is definitely here in the pottery forest in Amber's living room. And it's looking like it around Norfolk too. Friday night Jimmy took me to see the Garden of Lights at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. I've wanted to go every year and this is the first chance I got to see it! Lots of cuteness to behold. Many of the displays are all around and above you. You feel like you're going through a garden of lights rather than just seeing static images made by Continue Reading
