Thank you!!!
Thank you!

Oh my goodness, you guys. I am totally overwhelmed by the outpouring of sentiments, congratulations and incredibly warm and sweet comments about our engagement. Thank you so much!

If you’ve been my friend for a while now you know that Jimmy and I have had some rough times in the more than four years we’ve been together, and plenty of ups and downs as a couple, but love really does conquer all in the end. We are happier than we’ve ever been, and I love what Sarah said about us, that we “are a great example of not giving up on true love and following your heart in an age where love seems to be disposable!” That meant so much to me and I believe in us with all my heart.

I’m having much girly, giddy excitement coming up with ideas for the wedding. I can’t wait to show you guys some of the tricks I have up my sleeve. Jimmy and I are going to the Norfolk Botanical Garden on Saturday to take a closer look at the grounds and see if they will work for what we’re thinking.

Again, guys, thank you so much. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing group of friends. I wish I could fly you all in for the occasion!

Back at ya, girl! The garden should be lovely. My Bro-in-law is getting married there next July.

Hey Amber, I've been reading your blog for several months, even though I haven't commented... Your story with Jimmy reminds me a lot of one of my friends who just got married this summer, after nine years of a (sometimes) off and (mostly) on relationship.

At the wedding, the officiant said, "They stand here today, not in spite of everything they've been through, but because of it." It seems like the same is true for you and Jimmy. Congrats!

I am really looking forward to all of the wedding planning posts. I hated planning my own (tiny, not-really planned) wedding, but doing it vicariously is fun. My best friend is planning one right now, too--the process is endless!

Thank you Nikki, that is incredibly sweet!

Ohh the Botanical Gardens-nice! They are great people to work with. We would have gone with them but scheduling differences prevented us. There are so many great places on that side of the water too. Ohh I'm so happy for you.

I just keep thinking about you not really liking rings. Bet you LOVE that one. LOL.

Weddings and nature always rule. I hope my hubby and I get to re-wed and have a real wedding instead of just at the courthouse.

Speaking of enduring love, Amber, my husband and I started dating when I was a senior in high school. We broke up within the first 6 months of dating only to re-unite after two months. He ended up breaking up with me again in 1998 due to commitment phobia. After more than 4 months, we were back together again. We had almost called it quits at the end of 2005, but we became united stronger. We were engaged for over 4 years before marrying last year.

We ignore the break ups and say that we have been together come November 11 for 12 years. We have been married for over a year and a half.

If you really love each other, you can withstand any storm. You say you have weathered a lot. You guys sound committed and its that bond, that love, that friendship that will carry you through whatever life will throw at you. And you will always be working on it. Life is a never ending puzzle and its great when you have more than one set of hands trying to figure out what it all means.

I am so happy for you guys!

Excuse my intrusion, but is your title based on the Elvis Costello tune, "My Aim is True"?

#1 wedding tip - eBay, eBay, eBay. I found a ton of stuff there and saved a ton of money. I know whatever you do, it's going to be classy, unique and gorgeous. Can't wait to see it.

Enough of this sentimental stuff…I wanted to start seeing some dresses!

Just kidding…..You guys are an inspiration…if it’s meant to be, it will be. You can’t force love, but you can’t give up on it either.
