20 July, 2007The Panty Smuggler
So I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do for Crafty Bastards, which is rapidly approaching. The things I sold out of at Pile of Craft, were the objects that no one else had. For example, I only sold one of the wristlets, which I spent the most time on and was most excited about, but when I thought about it a LOT of people there were selling bags, and doing it better than I did.
So I’ve been thinking: dog stuff. Last night I tried my hand at making a collar. New. Favorite. Project! Quick, easy, colorful. Instant gratification.
This one is the “cheaper” version, just ribbon stitch-witcheried onto the webbing and topstitched down, but I’ll be doing a more deluxe version as well which will be completely covered in fabric inside & out. I’m also going to have fabric labels made up which I’ll sew on the inside. I’m gonna make some coordinating collar & leash sets, and have other doggie stuff too. Toys, beds, “paw balm”, treat bags, pickup bag holders, treats, I have all kinds of ideas!
I think Kyla likes it. It holds her fetching tag quite nicely. Were you wondering what it says?
Yeah. That’s right. I wonder how she got her nickname.

Amber, that's awesome :D Hope the show goes well for you!
Wow, that is so cute! Do you think you'll post some in your Etsy shop as well?
Dog stuff--awesome! I hope there will be some in the Etsy shop. Like something suited to a 60-pound male dog, perhaps...? :)
Yep, I will be adding stuff to the etsy shop, but probably not til after the show in September. Watch for it though!
i'd probably spend hundreds of dollars on your dog stuff cause my dog is spoiled.
where did you get kylas tag?
I would love to spoil my dogs with some of your fabulous stuff. :-)
Your talents never cease to amaze me, Amber.
please put some in the Etsy shop! Chubby & Mynne need new duds~!
Those are great, the ladies on WOOF will love them too! Kyla is one lucky pup!
I'm still trying to figure out what to put on Spike's fetching tag...I wish I had thought of 'panty smuggler' - it's perfect!
Kyla is so adorable! I just love her! She is so cute! I love the doggie stuff ideas. Awesome!! And my dog steals panties too!
What a funny tag! And a sweet collar. I don't have pets but I'm sure those will be a hit.
aw, dog stuff is a great idea! i wish i waited to get wiggins one of those cool tags (he already has his little heart one from petco). i cant wait to see what youre gonna be making!
ps. omg i just noticed your moving amizon wish list! thats so awesome! i need to get one of those going on my parents tv to play 24/7
This is a tad bit embarrassing but ... my dog pooped a pair of panties the other day. I suspect she is being used as a mule for a Mexican Panty Cartel.
I LOVE it! So cute. Thanks for sharing.
Dog stuff! Awesome! And you should also make "Sock Swiper."
In NZ we have budgie smugglers- you know men in brief Speedo swimming togs. LOL
I laughed so hard at Kyla's tag. Why do dogs DO that? When I lived at home, my brother's dog would go through my laundry basket and wiggle until she'd manage to get them on her head and wear them like a bonnet. And then she'd look so sad when I took her panty-bonnet off.
How about real coats that cover tummies? Little dogs (as I'm sure you know) get cold, wet tummies much faster than tall dogs. But most coats usually just have a strap over the stomach, no real protection. Selling special ones for dachshunds (they have deep chests, little waists, and long bodies with little legs. In New England I and other little dog owners that I have met have decided that we need coats that cover stomachs, have no/little sleeves, have a warm lining and water-resistant exterior. I am (as of yet) not a proficient seamstress and could never dream of doing it. I would buy them, as would many of us in New England. My little dachshund has ice-balls forming on the little bit of fur on his belly because nothing will fit him! Do it for the little dogs! Please!

LOL...I just had to laugh at those pics. I have a Jack Russel..I can't even tell you how many pair of panties she's smuggled under the bed.
I just came across your website and have fallen in love with Kayla! You are a really great mom. I have two boston terrorists and my household stays under "code orange" alert.
