Food from your childhood

Our Stitch n Bitch group takes turns hosting Knitting & Movie Night at each others’ houses. Well Friday night it was my turn. Thanks to Tasha, Joanne and Deva for coming out, I had a great time. Everyone brought food and the theme was “food from your childhood.”

Seriously, this was the easiest party I ever hosted. I didn’t prepare anything in advance and made several things between when I got home at 5:30, and 7, when people started showing up. Here’s a classic, Ants on a Log. I did a variation with Craisins and cream cheese which I’m calling Fire Ants on a Log.

Peanut Butter & Jelly. Duh.

Mini pizzas with cheese & pepperoni.

Mac & cheese (out of the blue box) with cut up hot dogs. Straight out the pot, baby! Sooo good.

I also had cheetos and animal crackers, Joanne brought Rice Crispy treats, Tasha brought Oatmeal Pie (seriously addictive and delicious) and Deva brought the one healthy (yet tasty) food of the night, fresh pineapple as well as Chichidango, a Hawaiian candy that was pretty cool.

We petted yarn, watched The Triplets of Belleville and I cast on for a pair of socks (more later on that). Good times, y’all.

Oh my gosh...well the knitting jargon went over my head but I REALLY want to learn to knit! I can crochet nothing but scarves right now and it's only one kind of boring stitch.
Anyway the food pics are killing me - those just set off about 8 different food cravings, so now I have to take my big pregnant self to the grocery store!!! LOL!

Say, care to share that Oatmeal Pie recipe? I've got an oatmeal cookie lover's birthday coming up and I want to try out something new...

YUM! Now that it's chilly I'm back to my amateurish knitting ways...and well, it's time to add the mac and cheese and ants on a log!
