25 August, 2006Shopping with a plan
So yesterday I was talking about clothes being too big. Basically the only garments I have that fit properly right now are t-shirts and ONE pant. And the pant needs to be hemmed, they’re too long. I have NO fall/winter clothes whatsoever because last year this time, I was 45 pounds heavier.
I decided that since I have SO much shopping to do, I needed to make a plan. So today I did. Want to see my list? These are things I absolutely need and I’m hoping to get some things that I can alter down the line if I lose more. Knits and some tops will be cheaper, I’ll check Kohls, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Target, etc. The nicer things I invest in (suit, pants, coat) will be sold on ebay when they get too big.

I have one thing checked off my list. Casual shoe! Both pairs of my Vans slip-ons are embarrassingly worn-out, and after one gave me a blister Sunday, I decided to toss them. I got this Diesel shoe at Dillards for $30! I think normal price is over $100. They’re a little darker in person and way cuter. Dillards is having a great sale right now. Additional 30% off any clearance item, so most stuff is 80% off or more! The place is INSANE though, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Okay the list (tell me if I missed something):

Holy crap lady.
My list just says "shit that fits."
What size are the clothes that don't fit you?
20s, some 18s, some 2x shirts, some 1x shirts. Why, you wanna buy/swap? They will go to the thrift store otherwise.
I never comment but I always read!
anyway, these red shoes are awesome

hth some!
i totally support your inclusion of metallic peeptoe wedges on your "to get" list... i have a pair of bruno magli's that fit that exact description, and while they were rather expensive, i find i wear them with EVERYTHING. the gold is sort of a neutral, and they are classic. jeans, dresses, skirts, nice pants, whatever, they look amazing.
sounds like a lot of your choices are really, really classic and trend-less, which is a good thing, as they will last and last...
love that other poster's suggestion of the navy peeptoes! so cute, and really, very classic and on trend at the same time.
Do they have H&M in your area? Don't know what they'll have for winter, but they had a great black a-line dress this summer. I would have gotten it, but the only one they had left in my size had a big hole in it because someone before me apparently didn't know how to try on clothes without becoming the incredible hulk.
And congrats on 45lbs!! Super impressive! If I could do that I'd be at goal...
Don't know if you've ever tried them, but I can usually find some really cute sweater sets from Jessica London -- really true to size. They usually have really cute shoes, too!

Cheers!

You can find great jeans at target, I'm really around a 12+, and the womens Target jeans fit me an 8, which is an upper. Plus, they're not ULTRA LOW WAIST, so no worries about butt crack alerts. Good luck, can't wait to see the results!
Um wow you're list. You are so organized.
I envy your shoes.
The last shopping I did was in Canada (as I'm trying to stick to my budget and avoid the mall this month), so I'm of miniscule help at finding these things you want...
I think they have chain-necklaces at Urban Outfitters (urbanoutfitters.com), and I believe I saw some metallic peep toe wedges at Baker Shoes.
Anywho, I approve of this list, and I love your colour plan. Please post pictures of these wonderful items as you acquire them!
You are WAY more organized than I could ever be. I wish I knew how to wear heels. I'm 5'10'' and never bothered, and now I feel like I don't know how to walk in them. Boo.
I love the color palette. It's so. . .and I'll say this again . . . organized. I think you may have inspired me to get some metallic shoes, too. Oh, and though I know you have your heart set on those Madden's--Target has a cute pair of red slingbacks with stacked heels. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you?
I'm 5'5".
I went to Barefeet Shoes (Janaf) recently and noticed a few variations of the red patten leather heel. I just got some Bronz wedges there for 50% off. Not the most stylish place, but they do have some bargains.
If you wear a 7 or 7.5, I'm about to donate a pair of black pointy kitten heels. They've only been worn once or twice and they're just a little too snug for me. I would try to sell them on ebay, but at this point, I'm just trying to clean out my closet.
Amber, don't forget the very shiek chocolate browns that Stacy and Clinton so gloriously rave about.
I sometimes wonder if I watch TOO much What Not to Wear.
This list? Too freaking cute :) Have fun shopping, lady!
Did you ever get your red patent heels? At Macy's on Friday, they had some by Jessica Simpson that were really pretty swell. Bright red, peeptoe, cork platform & about 4" heel, around $79. I liked them in white, too.
Now I'm kicking myself for not getting the gold peeptoes w/ a little heel they had on clearance. My husband made a face & said sorry, metallic shoes will always remind him of his elderly Latin teacher in 7th grade.
Wow, I'm so impressed with your neat, restrained, practical list. I need a list. Otherwise I go completely insane and pack my closet to the brim. Oops.
I'm with you on the red shoes and the metallic. I have red sandals and gold sandals that I wore to death this summer, so I need the fall equivalent. I think I would shrivel up and die without them.
