Victim — 06/25/06

Show last night at the Peppermint with Wasted Time, Victim, Municipal Waste and Murphy’s Law. I felt like I knew maybe five people there. Lots of young punk rock types, I guess cause of Municipal Waste. Even though they got old for me real fast, at least I know how to draw a crowd if I need one.

My first time seeing Wasted Time. I liked it a lot. Victim was good as always and Murphy’s Law was pretty fun. Seemed like the first four songs or so, everyone was going nuts and then the crowd just kinda died. I think the Ska Song killed it.

The guy from the Hickory Ruritan needs to call me back so I can finish planning this fest thing. Four day weekend this weekend. Well sort of. I have to go to South Carolina for a work-related thing on Sunday, driving back the same night. It’s gonna be a loooong day but I’d rather drive straight back than spend another weekend-day on work.

The beach was great yesterday. I’m a little toasted.

Also I’ve had a huge surge of hits on this site lately. Like double what I normally get (triple last Wednesday). I haven’t even posted anything interesting lately, and it’s not Google doing it (same old searches on “kicking nuts,” “jeremy piven hair” and “fashion fat ass”). What in the world is going on? Anyway, if you’re a new reader, hello. Please leave a comment, you hundreds of strangers!

I got your web site from your mom and have been checking it out...so now you know who 1 of your "new" visitors is!

Your mom and I were best friends in high school. I now live near Green Bay, WI.

Tell your mom I said "hi"!

I'm totally mesemerized by that guy's tank top!

Long time reader here.

Yeah I think it was "Dress like a gay Rastafarian, get in free" night. Only Billy can pull off a tank top like that. Oh, and 50 Cent.

Oh awesome pics!!!

This weekend I bonded with the bartender that wears the CBGB tee shirt, and claims to have gotten it from playing there "back in the day". He could be lying. But he's also hot.

Anyhow, I bonded with this bartender by mouthing along [subconsciously] to the Blitzkrieg Bop. He catches me and gives me the Metal Fingers.

I'm awesome enough to know that mouthing along to commercial punk doesn't make you awesome. At all. But irregardless, he took this to be a "bonding" experience, and spent the rest of the night name-dropping about people he'd supposedly met.

Why did I even start this story?

What band was he allegedly in? What names did he drop? You should have worn your Ramones shirt, we'll make you into a punk rocker yet.

Great shots of Snooky B and Jesse!! Very talented photographer. I think I amassed most of pages hit counts around 2002, I had some Converge interview with Nate Newton that robbed me of bandwidth. Keep up the good work.

Hey thanks Dave. It's weird that we have never met. I'm gonna try to spot you next time and say hi. Are you going to Terror on Tuesday?

Posted by: Amber on 26 June, 2006

I think I saw you though, were you talking to Brad for a bit and wearing a black shirt and jeans? I tapped him on his shoulder and left.

Posted by: dave blevins on 26 June, 2006

Oops, naw I won't be at Terror..good band though. I went to 3 shows this month which is rare, me and my wife divy up our nights out since we have a baby now, so her turn for a night out is coming soon. Maybe a few months down the road I'll be out again.

Well, I'm not new, but I am finally back. Hi!

I love all the action shots, although nothing compares to the Hot Dog!

Hey Dave, yeah that's me.
Thanks to the new commenters! Don't lurk, comment more!

AAAAAAAAH - it doesn't tell me when you reply to my comments. I didn't realize you'd been commenting back. I feel like a jerk.

Kay.

I don't remember the name of the band he was in, though I don't think he ever specifically [conveniently] mentioned it. Most of the names flew over my head, except for how he mentioned how he ALMOST [but did not actually] met Johnny Vicious. And there was something about Steve Albini, whose name I recognized, but meant nothing to me...

It sincerely frustrates me when a piece of eye-candy opens his mouth and shatters all my expectations of his coolness

Haha Johnny Rotten or Sid Vicious? Or did they have a son together? ;)

And Steve Albini was in Big Black and Shellac, he also has produced a lot of really good records.
